does anyone else miss when every hobby had its own forum

not to be that person but i kind of miss when every single hobby had its own weird little forum with a horrible color scheme and maybe 40 active users. found this place through a link on reddit and it already feels more like home than anywhere ive been online this year. anyway hi

Heads up: profile badges rolling out Friday

small update from the mod side, we're turning on the profile badge thing this week. it's just a little icon next to your username based on how long you've been a member, nothing you need to do on your end. shout in the feedback thread if it looks broken on your phone

eero pro held up fine in my 1920s place, 3 units did it. plaster and lath is rough on wifi specifically so mesh really is the fix

Six months into keeping bees, a few things I wish someone had told me

Six months in and the hive made it through its first real dearth without me panicking, which feels like a small miracle. A few things I'd tell a first-year version of myself: mite counts matter more than the beekeeping forums make it sound, do a sugar roll every three weeks and just get comfortable with the number. Also, a queen excluder is not optional if you want clean honey frames — learned that one the hard way. Happy to answer questions if anyone's thinking about starting next spring.

time stamped photos every single day, a hoa cant ignore a paper trail forever even if they want to
